Mont Fruitós, a visiting artist from Catalonia specialized in traditional and folk arts & crafts, taught us recycling techniques in this workshop. We learned how to build a Catalan 'capgrós' (bighead). The tradition of 'gegants, nans i capgrossos' (giants, dwarfs & bigheads) is very antique in Catalonia, dating from the 15th century or earlier. These' figures were mock effigies of public authoritative figures or popular characters. Celebrated at ECAC on December 1-2, 2007
